Fatal Arizona Motorcycle Accident

A young motorcycle rider was killed early today (12/10), when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed on the access road at the 101 Freeway and 59th Avenue. Matthew Hartmann (20), was pronounced deceased on the scene shortly before 5:00 a.m. this morning.

According to Glendale Accident Investigators, Matthew was traveling westbound on the access road near 5800 W. Beardsley Road when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road. After hitting the curb several times, Matthew was thrown from his motorcycle, and was found several hundred feet away from his motorcycle, off the roadway in a landscaped area next to the access road. He was not wearing a helmet.

Though the investigation is on going, it is likely that speed was a factor in the one vehicle crash. There were no indications of foul play and there were no witnesses. The final determination of cause is pending the results of the medical examination.
